A Novel Approach to the summertime reading list

The Center for Fiction in Fort Greene provides all the things y'all would wait from an institution devoted to literary fiction: readings, a bookstore, classes and workshops, to name a few. Its almost surprising offering, though, is the therapeutic service it calls "A Novel Arroyo." Designed for bibliophiles who have entered an unfamiliar or difficult chapter in their lives, similar a motility abroad or a parent's passing, it'south often given as a gift. The recipient spends 45 minutes discussing his or her reading preferences and particular circumstances with the Heart's director, managing manager or librarian, who then plot out the best books to reverberate upon the situation over the course of a year.

A Novel Arroyo could work equally well as grouping therapy, I idea, so I asked the Center'south librarian Allison Escoto to create a summer reading list that would appoint distracted readers like me, who accept eons to finish a volume but rampage on all other media.
